Hunter Coffin took home the WERA West B Superstock Expert #1 plate in 2011 and had a good start to his 2012 season when he finished 5th in the B Superbike class and the C Superbike class behind the serious competion of Benny Solis, Joey Pascarella, Bryce Prince, and Jeff Tigert at Auto Club Speedway. This weekend he is looking to improve his position at the Las Vegas round. “I was happy how I finished in the first races of the season at Auto Club Speedway and I love the Vegas track, it’s actually my favorite track so I’m really excited about this weekend.” Coffin said in a phone call with Next Moto Champion Tuesday morning. Coffin also metioned that fellow racer Joey Pascarella was going to give him a tow around the track Friday afternoon which should give him an even better chance to have a good race on Saturday and Sunday. Hunter wants another Championship in 2012 and is very fortunate to continue to work with Outlaw racing’s Mookie Wilkerson and the Jason Peralaz on the 6 rider team. Outlaw racing is supported by Davie Aussie and Pirelli. Hunter is personally sponsored by ACT racing, Hotbodies, KBC Helmets, Lay’d Out, Trackaholics, dographix, F n L racing fuel, Fastrack riders, Next Moto Champion and GP Bound. After getting a lot of laps in on his Yamaha R6 Cameron felt a little sore but says he had a good test overall. “The pain wasn’t too bad, I mean it hurt a little but it was mostly weak. I struggled a little on down shifting for corners and stuff. I have my last check up where I get X-rays done this week and then I can start getting back harder into training so that will be nice! I’m really happy with how the test went. I was just expecting to get a little track time and not push it too hard, but I was comfortable instantly with the bike and had a really solid 2 days of testing. My crew got a lot of good info from the bike and it’s awesome working with them. We have a super good package going into Daytona. I just need to focus on healing up and it should be good!” NMC would like to wish Cameron the best of luck in the final weeks leading up to AMA Pro Racing Round 1 which kicks off in [...]

Press Release by Loris Baz:

Hello everybody!

Here we come!!!! Finally!!! Yes, I was finally allowed to get back on my bike after 2 months of missing it!!! It was really exciting to kick off our preparation for the season!!!It was the circuit of Alès where we carried out our first test in 2012 season. The weather was fabulous.

My first outing was on Sunday and I was so impatient that I was ready 1 hour in advance before the session started. I really did miss riding. I found the feeling again in a few laps, the feeling with this bike that I liked so much in the end of last season. Specifically the chassis, light front that I adore and a powerful engine!!!

Allowing myself about 15 laps to get to come with the bike and find my rhythm, we started to adjust the set-up, to “tune it up” and learn how the bike behaves when we put it all in practice – worn tyres and the temperature; we went from one extreme to another. Since nobody in this team knows this bike, it is essential that we learn.

First day has passed and I set a good pace using old tyres that I wasn’t able to improve with new ones since it got a bit colder towards the end of the day. With a beaming smile that never left my face, reflecting the day, we went to sleep.

Day two. We recommenced on the same basis, continued with the set-up, times were decreasing and I set some great lap times with old tyres. Later, I decided to use a new tyre that got me very close to the record and I felt very encouraged. We spent the rest of the day trying to extend each outing on old tyres.

I was really satisfied because my lap times were consistent, but more importantly, my feeling was great and I had so much fun on the bike. All mechanics and Adrien, the team manager, were enthusiastic about our 2-day testing.

We still have one month to go before I sit on bike again in Aragon for another pre-season testing session. I’m going to continue my physical preparation and Aragon cannot come any sooner.

Check out the onboard video from the two day test:

Brinsley Dyess had another 1-1 weekend in the Women’s class. Although Dyess is obviously tough to beat, Amanda Brown was not going to let her win so easily. In the first moto on Saturday, Brown led the first few laps over Dyess. This pace allowed Brown and Dyess to gap the rest of the field and had a good battle for first place. In the end Dyess got around Brown for her 5th win this series.

Another captivating battle took place in the Supermini 1 & 2 classes between Alexander Frye and Mitchell Harrison. This was the first weekend where both riders were present in the series. Battling in all four motos, it wasn’t evident who would win the overall until the weekend was over. In Supermini 1, Mitchell Harrison took the overall with a 2-1 with Alexander Frye in second with a 1-2. Supermini 2, Frye took both of the wins for a first overall with Harrison 2-2 and a second overall.
