The top photo was taken with a Pentax K2000 in the early morning hours of June 20, 2009. The lower picture was taken with a Sony CyberShot during the evening hours of July 26, 2008. Both tours were with Sixth Sense Savannah.

Look in the bottom right window pane! I believe there are two other entities visible and I have all of them circled. One of them may well be her mother which supposedly preceded her in death? The last one (above the female entity) looks like it may be of an African-American? All just guesses. Let me know what you think of these also and you may also post it if you wish. I think that one was taken with just a little Sony CyberShot. That one and others are what convinced me to purchase the Pentax. lol About the debunked image of the girl, it’s a strange anomaly. It appears that you can make out individual teeth.

Jon and his girlfriend visited Savannah over Labor Day weekend, and here is his account of the odd photo he got:

My girlfriend and I went to Savannah for vacation over the Labor day weekend – her first time and I’ve been there a few times before. Anyway, I ran across your blog and was fascinated by the stories surrounding this house. So, we decided to walk there the next day. I took only 10 pictures hopefully coming across something abnormal. I think I did. The photo (file ending in 1637) is one similar to Terri G.’s photo in which she captured “eyes” when taking a photo of the downstairs window (to note: I didn’t realize this association to Terri G’s photo at the time I saw something in the photo I took which was hours afterwards). With so many accounts posted on your blog – and having to read it only once, this correlation dawned on me after I was showing my girlfriend your blog and going through the pictures in my camera after we returned to the hotel.

Anyway, I appended 2 other files: one before and one after this shot was taken – probably within a minute apart – as I was walking from one spot to the next. The photo I took in between is me actually being goofy and taking a picture of my girlfriend’s reflection in the window just so I can jokingly tell her that I “captured” something. However, when you look at the photo you can see the reflection of her shoulder, her purse strap, and her hair covering her face while she’s walking to the right of the picture – and these “orange streaks and dots”.

…Anyway, I can “see” 2 things – similar to Terri G’s photo, I can make an outline of a shadow: where the 2 streaks can lead up to a snout of some sort – like a lion’s head. The other thing I can see is that the 2 orange streaks are “legs” and the orange dot on the other side of the bar is a “head” – so it makes it look like a small spirit “flying away” from the reflection of Christina’s top that she was wearing that day. Likewise, it can also look like it’s being hung.

The strange streaks and dots are on the left side of the window. Click on the photo for a larger version.

This is one of the more unusual photos I have seen recently. What do you think? Has Jon captured something paranormal? Comment below with your thoughts!

Melissa wrote to me recently with a very intriguing picture! I can see what appears to be a face, complete with eyes, nose and a mustache. Check out the original picture and some zoomed-in cropped versions below and leave a comment on your thoughts. Is it Wilson’s ghost? Have you ever seen a male ghost at 432 Abercorn?

Melissa says:

I took the Sixth Sense Tour during my visit to Savannah in August 2012, just two weeks ago. The night my boyfriend and I took the tour, we forgot the camera; so, the next night, we walked to the places our guide had taken us. One of those places happened to be this house, which we found to exude an energy of its own. The attached picture was taken that night and is of the upper middle window. In your article, you mentioned that the General has never been photographed but if I had to guess who the “man” in this picture is, I would say it is General Wilson. Has anyone else seen this figure?

I’m guessing this is around 1987/88.

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the opening of Epcot – then EPCOT Center – at Walt Disney World. If you grew up going to the park like I did, then you probably remember that, back then, EPCOT stood for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Whatever name you give it, it is still my favorite Disney park.

I realize that this dates me, but I remember getting to do a special “sneak preview” while Epcot was still under construction. Mom and I got to ride the new monorail line that went to Epcot and looped through Future World.

A lot has changed at Epcot over the years. While I still love the park (and rejoice at the resurrection of Captain EO – 54 viewings and counting), I miss a lot of the attractions of yesteryear. Most of all, I miss the original Journey Into Imagination and the oh-so-steampunk Dreamfinder. I also miss the Walter Cronkite version of Spaceship Earth: “Glorious Rome falls victim to the flames of excess.” That narration was magic. Of course, I’d love “just one more ride” on Horizons and World of Motion.

And yes, I admit it, I’d like to hang out with Bonnie Appetit or even The Fud Wrapper again. Have you eaten your Veggie, Veggie, Fruit, Fruit today?

Still, there is plenty to enjoy in today’s incarnation of Epcot. Mission: Space is an amazing feat of engineering, and I still love sitting down for The American Adventure. The park will always change: Walt Disney never intended for his parks to grow old and stale. As Epcot keeps moving forward, I look forward to seeing what’s next for my favorite park.

I think I’m still catching up on sleep! This year was another epic Dragon*Con for a lot of reasons. Here are my top <del>five</del> six moments from the weekend. (Narrowing this list down was tough!)

6. I met so many new people, largely thanks to being part of the 501st Legion now. One of the best things about Dragon*Con is the people behind the costumes.

The Cruxshadows put on an amazing show every year.

5. The Cruxshadows never disappoint. I took a nap Sunday night, then got my goth on for a show that didn’t start until 1:30 a.m. I like knowing that even at my age, I can still dance until 3 a.m.

4. On Sunday, I wore my Alice in Wonderland costume. It’s a version of Alice as a Mad Scientist, complete with a hybrid “Cheshire rabbit.” The highlight of the day was when a little girl got her picture taken with me. Afterward, she looked at me and said, “I saw your movie!” She really thought I was Alice!

3. The panels we did this year were great. We started with Lord of the Rings (Billy Boyd, Craig Parker and John Rhys-Davis). I could listen to Billy Boyd talk all day long. Love that Scottish accent! Then it was on to Firefly (Adam Baldwin, Jewel Staite and Sean Maher), where they drank champagne and Firefly bourbon on stage while interacting like people who are still part of the same crew. Finally, we wound up in the second row for The Vampire Diaries panel. Ian Somerhalder. Need I say more?

2. I marched in the parade for the first time. To make it even better, I got to carry the 501st Legion banner. We were (as always) the last group in the parade, and to hear the crowd roar when they spotted the stormtroopers marching behind us was so exciting. The highlight was hearing two people shout “Admiral Daala!” at me. Thank you, parade-watchers, for actually knowing and recognizing my character!

Adam Baldwin and…Abby from NCIS?

1. I FINALLY MET ADAM BALDWIN. Jayne Cobb is one of my favorite fictional characters, and of course Firefly is one of my favorite shows. Adam was so nice, and so very, very tall.

You can check out my pictures of Dragon*Con 2012 in my photo album.

Thankfully, it’s also treatable. Here is your guide to its symptoms and treatment.

Signs of Post-Con Depression:

-You woke up this morning and felt sad that you had to put on real clothes instead of a costume.

-You looked in the mirror and thought, “Why bother to look good? No one will be taking my picture today.”

-You keep checking Facebook every five minutes, hoping that your friends will upload their photos. And tag you in them. But not THAT photo – you know, the drunken one from 2 a.m. on Saturday night – because that would be embarrassing.

“Scanner reads…depressed.”

-You accidentally referred to your boss as “Lord Vader.”

-You made a joke about filking at work, and couldn’t understand why no one got it.

-You actually wish you could see a furry, just to feel like you’re back at con.

Treatment of Post-Con Depression:

-Did you enjoy a panel for a particular actor/movie/show? Have a marathon! (It’s Firefly for me, thanks to a fantastic panel on Friday.)

-Upload your own pictures to Facebook. Tag all of your friends (but not THAT one). Look at them every hour until you begin to feel better.

Have a cookie. You’ll feel better.

-Start working on next year’s costumes. Then, instead of looking backward and feeling sad, you’ll be looking forward to next year’s con. Bonus: starting early means you can patiently wait for 99 cent pattern sales, fabric store coupons, and that lucky find at a thrift store.

-Think of a friend who wasn’t at con and think, “Well, at least I was there!” Just don’t actually say this to your friend, because that would make you a jerk.

-Blast the music of your favorite con band. For me, it’s The Cruxshadows’ new album, “As The Dark Against My Halo,” but for you it might be Voltaire’s “BiTrektual” or some other artist. (Use headphones to avoid annoying co-workers, and simply ignore the weird looks when you start dancing.)

-Incorporate a little con into your everyday life. Fall is coming, so rock that Jayne hat or 10th Doctor coat. Prefer a little more subtlety? Be like John Barrowman and wear superhero undies. We won’t tell.

Here’s to another great Dragon*Con and the recovery process. Do you have your own post-con depression remedy? Comment below and let us know! We’re all in this together. So say we all!

When Celebration VI was announced, I knew I had to go. Once again, it was held in the Orange County Convention Center, and once again, I had a fantastic time.

It was a lot of the same people and costumes, but the experience for me was very different this time around. When I went to Celebration V two years ago, I was something like this the entire weekend: “Look, a stormtrooper! There’s another stormtrooper! I’ve never seen so many stormtroopers before! And look at that giant wampa walking toward us! Did you see that Jawa that just ran past? Oh wow, there’s Boba Fett! That’s the most amazing costume ever and IHAVETOHAVEMYPICTURETAKENWITHHIMRIGHTNOW!!!”

Now, my husband Ed will tell you that I’m still like that on occasion. As he says, I have moments where I’m like a kid with sensory overload. However, in the two years since my first Celebration, I have joined two Star Wars costuming organizations: the Republic Service Organization (think WWII-era USO, but dedicated to serving the clone troops of the Galactic Republic) and the 501st Legion, the world’s largest Star Wars costuming group (dedicated to all things Imperial and villainous).

Instead of feeling like a visitor to a surreal world this time, I felt like I was right at home. I was surrounded by my fellow Imperial Officers and joined by ranks of stormtroopers, snow troopers, clones, bounty hunters, Jawas, and other assorted denizens of the Empire. Sure, I still got giddy, but the real excitement of the weekend was meeting other RSO and 501st members and feeling like a part of it all.

Two versions of Admiral Daala! That’s me on the left.

A few highlights:

-While An Evening with Kevin Smith was funny and entertaining, nothing was funnier than the sign-language interpreter having to sign all of Kevin’s swearing and vulgar language. Thankfully, she had a great sense of humor about it.

-Getting a sneak peek of Star Wars Detours, the new cartoon show coming from Seth Green and the Robot Chicken gang. I giggled so much during that panel.

-Once again, visiting with my friends Bruce and Charlotte, and Bonny and Josh (as well as their adorable little daughter). See you guys at the next Celebration!

-Getting autographs on my Fett jersey from Daniel Logan (young Boba in Episode II), Jeremy Bulloch (the original Boba) and Dicky Beer (Boba Fett’s stunt man). All three were so nice!

-Meeting all of the other Imperial Officers during the 501st Legion group photo.

“I grew up in Savannah, married, and raised my children there. I had never heard anything about this house despite having been on many ghost tours, having been to the Massey School countless times, and am a writer myself. I recently heard that the house at 432 Abercorn was haunted and on Monday, August 13, 2012, my daughter and I were downtown and decided to drive by and have a look. It was a sunny day at 3:15 in the afternoon, and there was not a breeze in the air. We approached Calhoun Square from the north. We were chatting about the movie we had seen being filmed a couple of squares over. As we passed the Massey School, going a couple of miles an hour, I remarked that it was a pretty house. As we got closer I commented that the windows looked kind of evil. As we passed the house my daughter said, “I’d like to live there.” No sooner then the words left her mouth then a great weight crashed onto the roof of our SUV causing the entire car to shake. I slammed on the breaks. After making sure we each were okay, we got out and looked on the roof of the car. There was a oak limb. From the way the car shook I would have expected it to be the size of a human body, but it was only the size of my forearm. Sure limbs fall in Savannah every day but what are the odds of that timing, and on a clear sunny day, when we just happened to be riding by a haunted house.”

Dave C. recently wrote to me with a frightening experience he and his wife had during a ghost tour. Physical illness in response to a haunted place is not uncommon – I’m a tour guide with the Roswell Ghost Tour, and I’ve had several people feel ill at the “creepy house” that we visit.

Have you had a similar experience? Leave a comment and let us know!

Dave wrote,

“I found your website after googling 432 Abercorn during a recent trip to Savannah with my wife. We took a ghost tour on Aug 3rd and decided to read up on this house after something unusual happened to my wife there that evening. I’d like to point out that I’m skeptical by nature and think that most experiences can be logically explained. Perhaps this can be too. I certainly can’t, and won’t, say that what happened to us can be attributed to anything paranormal, but it was something that was unexpected and interesting.

My wife and I knew very little about Savannah prior to our visit and had never heard of this house or its history. We had actually planned to visit New Orleans to celebrate my 50th birthday (Aug 3), but switched our plans a few days before we were to depart and came to Savannah instead. My brother was having an unexpected surgery at Memorial Hospital and we decided we should be close by during his recovery. I booked a ghost tour a few days in advance, not knowing for sure if we would even be able to attend. It seemed like it would be something fun and entertaining to do and would give us a break from spending time at the hospital during the day. I didn’t tell my wife anything about the tour until I was pretty certain we could make it.

The tour met at Chippewa Square at 9:45 pm on the 3rd of August. The group was large (I think about 30 people). We made several stops and learned a lot of background history about Savannah. We found the information to be interesting, entertaining, and sometimes creepy, but not necessarily all that scary. As I said before, I’m a skeptic and think there is usually a logical explanation for most things. When we arrived at Abercorn my wife and I were near the front of the group and stood just across the street near the curb as we listened to our guide. After about 10 minutes my wife began to lean on me a little and said she didn’t feel good. I asked if she needed some water. She said no but that she felt like she was going to throw up. I suggested we make our way toward the back of the group to see if she would feel any better. As we started to casually walk to the back she whispered again “I don’t feel so good”. I could tell she was getting unsteady on her feet so I held onto her as we walked a few steps toward the back. Suddenly she went limp in my arms and I had to lower her to the ground. She almost immediately tried to sit up on her own but had a very dazed look on her face. I told her to sit there for a minute. A few seconds later she was out again. I think someone from the group announced what had happened and Tobias (our guide) asked if she needed assistance. Another man from our group came over to help me and told Tobias he should call for an ambulance because she was incoherent. At that point I agreed. The man helping me suggested we pick her up and move her to a bench in the square – which we did. Almost immediately after getting her to the bench she seemed to be fine. She was sitting up talking and told Tobias she didn’t need any assistance. He was on the phone with 911 at the time and told them she appeared ok and that she was not having any difficulty breathing. He cancelled the need for an ambulance. Tobias continued his talk at Abercorn for a few more minutes as my wife and I sat on the bench next to the man who helped us. She attributed her episode to the heat and kept asking me, “it must have been the heat, right?”. I asked her if she had been standing with her knees locked for a long time. She said no, that she just suddenly began to feel weird and nauseous and was trying to look around for a trash can where she might sneak off and throw up. She said that everything started slanting sideways just before she collapsed. By the way, she never did throw up. To those of you wondering, yes she did drink a beer (a Blue Moon to be exact) from the Six Pence Pub prior to the tour. No, we had not been drinking or partying all day, and she has never fainted or otherwise lost consciousness prior to this event.

As the group left Abercorn my wife said she wanted to stay with the group and finish the tour. She didn’t have any more issues the rest of the evening. I did notice that her hands felt uncharacteristically hot later that evening. Normally she is always cold. Anyway, we laughed about the event later and made jokes about it being the hag – (a creature or entity that was mentioned on the tour).

Sooo… during the early evening of Aug 4th (the day after our tour) my wife decided she wanted to go back and see the Abercorn house again. I think she wanted to prove to herself that she wasn’t scared, or that nothing would happen this time. She wanted to see where she passed out and have me describe to her exactly where we were and what happened. We walked from a few blocks away and found the square deserted. It was about 8:30 pm. I took a few pictures of her where she first went down and a few more pictures in rapid succession of the house. As we were standing there talking a strange cool wind hit us from the east. It only lasted a few seconds but we both looked at each other and said that was kind of weird. I think I made a joke again about it being the hag. When we got back to the hotel later that evening I called her over to look at the pictures I had downloaded to my laptop. A couple of dim orbs showed up around her in one, but I think those are mostly attributed to dust or moisture in the air, or on the lens. Overall the pictures were just pictures – except one. It’s a picture of the house and appears to show an orb or blob (near the ceiling of the upstairs balcony). If you zoom in on it, the orb appears to show a woman’s face (almost like it’s a portrait)-at least that’s what I see. One person saw what appears to be a monkey’s face and yet another person saw a man with a beard. Most people see a woman though. The pictures I took seconds before and after this picture show nothing. It could just be a trick of the light or a reflection of dust. I have not altered the photo or edited it in any way. The original photo is still on my camera card as well. Anyway, I’m not sure what to think but thought I would post our experience here for others to read.”

Recently, Dana B. left a comment on my blog about her experience at 432 Abercorn. She then emailed me a fascinating photo. What do you think of the strange image? Two other intriguing pictures that Dana got that night are shown here, too.

“Beth, I saw the post that my friend Denise Dineen wrote in June. I didn’t realize that there was so much information about 432 Abercom Street. You need to see the photo that I took that night! The photo is through the second floor window at the top of the stairs to the right. When you enlarge the image, you can see what looks like a figure with a noose around it’s neck. The figure looks like it’s wearing a bishop’s hat, and there are dangling feet. In the corner of the photo, it looks like an angry dog showing its teeth. Needless to say, I was excited to have such a great picture of a ghost! Throughout the tour that night, I didn’t “feel” anything like my friend Denise felt. She was nauseated and sad in different locations, but at 432 Abercorn Street, she was downright scared. She wouldn’t get near the house. She literally stayed on the street as far away as she could. The next day, we met a girl named Jenny and her friend. That’s when they told us about the demon in the photo and that a “hag” had attached itself to me. They did a cleansing on me with sage. I didn’t know what to think. It made me realize that there is good and evil, and to always protect yourself. I was so clueless. If I remember correctly, Jenny and her friend said that they were affiliated with Blue Orb and the tour we had taken was through Sixth Sense. They were there that morning taking pictures when Denise and I had gone back to the house to take some pictures in the daylight. Because the tour was in the dark, we weren’t even sure if we’d find the house. We didn’t recall the address. I don’t think that it was a coincidence that we found the house, and that they were there to help me.”
